Maths G&T suggestions please

I am hoping somebody may be able to advise me please.

My dds friend is very good at Maths, so much so she is currently working with y6 and she is y4.
Her mum is proud and supports the school who in turn support her etc.
However, I feel with some encouragement to nurture her talent she will go far.
Her mum is a sp and only works pt and could never afford private tuition, nor do we live in Grammar school or selective area.
I am quite friendly with her mum, known her for years and know she would be ok if I had some suggestions for her.
So I would like any advice, anybody has really. Competitions, MENSA, on these lines, I think?
She completed book 6 schofield and Simm book in less than an hour, I bought it in error for my dd who is quite behind and glad the book went to her friend Grin

Have you tried looking on the Potential Plus UK website?? There are some great resources on there.

why does she need private tuition?

the school is challenging the child and extending her

she's 9 year old, just let her enjoy what she is doing

chicken

I used the private tuition to give a bit of background as to her family and their financial resources really. It just seems a shame that whilst school are stretching her well, the fun element that would really be beneficial to her is unknown by her mum.
I have heard there are competitions that dc can enter, but not sure if schools are required to enter them.
The school don't seem to advise parents on extra services for G&T outside the system, which I feel is a shame.

You can get very cheap suduko and kenken puzzle books in Asda or from amazon.
There is a maths board game called smath which is not very expensive.
Online mangahigh is good and you can play some games for free and I think there is a free after school club run online.

Get her to try chess?

What does she enjoy doing? My ds1 is at a similar level in his state primary (year 4, but working with year 6, at around a level 5c I think). He enjoys his maths homework, but I would far rather he spend his free time doing his own thing - he is currently upstairs drawing up football league tables.

He does enjoy chess, and also plays the piano, which I suppose are maths related, but his favourite things are tennis and football!

Ds2 (only year 1) would spend hours doing suduko and non verbal reasoning quizzes, but that's just his thing.

I think at year 4, asking them what they would like is the key. She's clearly doing very well, so more maths practise probably won't have a major impact?
