proud of dd - have to tell someone

Not sure that she is G+T, though of course to me she is wonderful. Dh just been to her reception parents evening (state school, mainly MC). She is doing really well in all areas and the teacher said today she (dd) was trying to teach her maths table the 2 and 5 times tables. They seem to have just differentiated them wrt ability as dd told me that they have just been divided into tables, and dh says the teacher accidentally said she was on the top table. Her teacher was saying that she has an amazing vocab (she has previously told me that she learns new words from dd!), great imagination and an amazing retention of facts, esp history. She also is always bursting with enthusiasm about the places we have taken her to on the weekends etc. Other than that 'enrichment' I am ashamed to say that I do very little teaching at home, we read her reading books, but she doesn't want to be taught anything but facts by me. She is also socialising well and is developing good friends, and now able to include other children in her imaginative games - something she found really hard at preschool.

DH sometimes finds dd's exacting requests and her 'ways' a bit annoying, so I am really pleased that he was able to hear the teacher's incredibly positive view of dd. Just a shame that I couldn't go due to childcare. Hopefully there will be more similar ones to come. Sorry for the unabashed boasting, but obviously I can't say any of this in RL, and seeing as dh has told me I can't then tell him. Not expecting replies, just had to tell 'someone'!

Smile that's great. To know your child is happy and healthy in school is so important. She sounds smart and it's a mother's job to be proud. Yay for your dd!

Lovely post. I'm glad she's doing brilliantly, sounds like it's great your DH heard it himself, sorry you missed it though.Smile.

Well done with your DD, I could have written your post! I am "friends" with a lovely bunch of mums at my DD's school but all they seem to talk about is how there children are not reading well etc, I feel I have no one apart from OH to share the experience with.
