Do you get told if your child comes OFF the g&t reg?

Was told over a year ago that ds was on g&t reg. I know other children got similar g&t letters this year (though didn't see any go out to his year). This time ds didn't have one. From that I'm assuming he no longer is in the 10%.

Being on the reg has made no real difference to him, us or his teaching so I'm really not bothered either way, but I'm kind of interested to know if he's still on the list or not. But don't know how to ask without sounding a complete numpty. Parents' evening coming up.

Has anyone been informed of their dc's removal, or do they just slip off quietly? And is it worth me asking about it? He's in year 1. (And I understand about it being 10% of his peer group etc). TIA

They've more or less stopped it now I'm afraid!

In the school my dd s go to g and t only kicks in when the child is in year one. When my dd1 went into year 3 she was on it and goes out for extra maths and topic work. We have a few problems over then last 18mths in timing of these sessions. At one point they were often in part of the IT lesson which wasn't good as they learn a lot in that lesson and it is all new stuff.

I am not really sure what happens in the lower school as I don't think they did much with the bright children when dd1 was there (ofsted) highlighted it in a ofstead.

Are school is a 315 and has mixed year classes and they also set the children for maths and literacy although I am not sure most parents know this. So all the children should be being stretched.

With the g and t time it is just about extending their learning sideways so they are not getting bored or racing ahead.

Our school also does something called big write where the children write a story for a large part of the morning having done preparation for this in the form of talking homework (talking to an adult at home) this gives them a chance to work at their own pace and ability.

I know this doesn't really answer your question but it may give you ideas what to ask a parent evening. It not a competition you just want your child to do the best they can
