Mini pill, acne, hair loss, can you help?

I posted recently about suffering from cystic acne since giving birth to my DD almost 1 year ago.
I finally had a GP appointment today to discuss treatment for my skin but since discussing things I have realised that a lot of my problems have developed since going back onto the mini pill.
I now feel a bit stuck and my GP was far from helpful.

I was put on the mini pill 3 months ago due to persistent bleeding since having DD almost 1 year ago.
I had a scan to investigate the bleeding and they found a potentially cystic ovary and a lot of scar tissue in my uterus (I had retained products from birth for 6 weeks).

Since being back on the mini pill the bleeding has stopped and I haven't had a period which is fab.
But I have suffered bad cystic acne, my hair has thinned right down and is falling out in clumps in the shower.
My mood is low all the time and I feel really emotional and angry.
I have headaches every single day and am relying on pain killers to get rid of them so I can function to look after my DD.
GP wasn't in the slightest bit worried about this and has prescribed me meds for my skin instead and referred me to dermatology.

Has anyone else experienced these types of issues on the mini pill and if so, what did you do?
Were you prescribed something different that gave less side effects or did you stop taking it all together.
I'm not sure what to do and my GP shrugged when I asked for advice.

Hi Redherring, which mini pill are you on?
Some mini pills are more likely than others to have what are called androgenic type side effects ie skin problems and hair loss.

The mini pills that are more androgenic are norgeston, micronor and noriday. ( thrse contain either levonorgestrel or norethisterone) .

Cerazette is less androgenic as far as I know so if you are on one of the others then it may be worth swapping to cerazette possibly.

If you are already on cerazette it might be worth reconsidering your type of contraception and seeing if things improve.
I'm sorry your doctor wasn't more helpful. I have experienced hair loss and know how much it can affect your confidence. I would still go to.dermatology as they will be able to talk to you about your hair loss and your skin. 💐
