Can hayever produce yellow mucus

A couple of days ago out of the blue my nose was terribly itchy and blocked. I then started to constantly sneeze like a nutter with yellow snot dripping at the back of my throat. The yellow shite has finally settled on my chest and now I feel positively miserably (I have asthma too) - was this sudden onset a hayfever attack or viral? I always thought hayfever snot had more of a clearer presence to it..

I can't help with the viral or not question but I DO know that I don't get ANY hayfever symptoms until I eat dairy, then BANG!!So try removing it and alcohol from yr diet.

Generally yellow or green stuff pretty much anywhere on or in the body means some sort of infection but I don't know much about hayfever and whether it can give you chesty mucous.

I'm not a big drinker but I will start with the dairy, thank you ppeatfruit. By the way -when you mention dairy, do you mean by eliminating everything including butter on toast for example?

I have just had this bug- it's doing the rounds. It is an infection- ABs from doctor cleared it up

Hayfever should really only produce clear mucous.

Yellow and thick is normally a sign of bacterial infection.

If it's hit your chest and you're asthmatic it might be worth a trip to the G.P. to check that you don't meet the criteria for antibiotics.

Yes butter included; you could try reintroducing it after a couple of weeks and watch for the symptoms and then you'll know!Isn't it funny how few people are aware it's what they eat makes them ill?

Having had hayfever for thirty years I have never had yellow mucus-only when I´ve had a bad cold.
