hi all,
i'm having high blood pressure for the last couple of years now.
my gp gave me many kinds of medicines for it, they didnt help at all and they had horrible side effects, so i had to stop taking them.
also, i started to have ibs for the last year or so, again i tried medicines but no help.
sometimes i feel like my ibs is triggerring my blood pressure.
now i am thinking to have hospital referrals for both of them.
i need to lower my blood pressure, the last take i had was quite high and frightened me and my ibs is ruining our life.
do you think it will help me to be refferred to hospital?
what can i do else?
thank you.

I have had similar problems myself in the past. High blood pressure with no apparent cause and IBS. It was eventually diagnosed as anxiety. I had ADs which cured both.

Hi,

I, like you, have found some bp medication to have bad side-effects.

I have found that a herbal remedy called 'Crataegus' (Hawthorn Berry) seems to reduce my bp level very well, without any side effects.

The other natural remedy which has been recommended is 'beetroot juice' which can, apparantly, lower your bp within 24 hours. I am about to give this a go tomorrow.

hth,

thanks Lynli and Kayteee
Lynli, that sounds very logical. Can i ask which ADs did you use? did it have any side effects? i think i have anxiety, too.
Kayteee, i was searchig on net and saw beetroot juice and hawthorn berry, too. they say parsley tea is very good as well which we can make at home from fresh parsley.
thanks a lot for your answers

if we take all these herbal remedies everyday; for example drink beetroot juice, parsley tea and Crataegus, and others, will we reduce bp too much, more than normal range? isnt this dangerous?

Hi again Noraa,

I have purchased a bp monitor so that I can test my bp every day. (They cost about £15). This way I can see for myself how I am doing and adjust the doseage. I know this is a bit unconventional but it works for me

I've recently had a stroke so I'd rather get my bp low!

Regarding salt, as far as I know, low sodium salt is better but NO salt is the best for high bp. Better to season your food with other herbs and spices.

i am sorry you had stroke Kayteee
i asked my gp if i should have monitor, he said no and thought i would get scared if i see a high reading at home.
i feel palpitations for the last couple of days.
i have cold and tooth problems which dont help at all i guess.
my bp too high, the dentist says he cant remove the tooth at this condition.
which monitor do you use?
do you use any med for bp? which ones?
i am going to my gp but want to see another doc there, i hope he won't say you have to continue with the old doc. i feel like i cant go anywhere with the old one. we tried many meds with him and he didnt bother with my ibs much.
i need to get better, i have a child to look after.
hope everything turns out good for you, too.

i would go back to your and see another GP , when you call ask if you can see a different one , i see different ones every time i go , i never see my doctor as i dont like him ,

and talk through your worries when you do ,write notes down before you go of what you want to ask , i have IBS driven by my anxiety ..it hard as its a visiouse circle.
the more i worry the worse it is .

hope you get some answers soon .

i went to doc this morning with the notes i prepared yesterday.
i was quite upset about my health and my notes a bit overwhelmed the doc i guess.
i need to lower my bp for tooth extraction for next week, so the doc gave me celiprolol.
only that one itself wont lower too much i guess, but he didnt want to give another one just yet.
celiprolol can help for palpitations as well he said.
i am thinking of using additional herbal stuff but i need to have monitor at home i think.
i think my ibs and high bp is all related to stress-anxiety, so he gave fluoxetine 20mg, too.
choclab maybe you may consider something for your anxiety so that you can break that anxiety-ibs circle.
thanks everyone.
