Hi! We're an American family who lived in the UK for 2 1/2 years. DS was born there and we followed the UK immunization schedule. We're back in the States now and DS is playing catch up with a couple of vaccines so he can go to nursery - Hep A & chickenpox. Not a big deal - he got the first series yesterday. But they also told me he needs another DTaP and that he should have had a 4th around 18 months. I looked at the NHS vaccination schedule and they don't call for another DTaP until about age 4 which is when the US requires another jab too. So my question is: does the UK use a "stronger" - for lack of a better word - vaccine that only requires 3 jabs? I don't want DS to be missing a jab - especially since here in California there seems to be an article in the paper nearly every day about the resurgence of whooping cough - but then I don't want him to get unnecessary jabs either.

Thanks for any input.
