just back from gp - she's refered me to hospital but says she absolutely doesn;t think it's sinister - but wants to get it checked. she said she thought it was most likely a fibroid adenoma.

I believed her when she reassured me. but I can't shift this horrible feeling in my stomach. help me get a grip. and get on with some work.

hatwoman - its very natural to feel worried, but I would take heart from your GP's reassurances. Most Breast lumps are not sinister, but important you get it checked out, for your own peace of mind as much as anything.

Do you know how soon your appointment at the breast clinic will be? Just try to take it a day at a time and occupy yourself as much as possible.

FWIW - in my experience, (I am a BC patient), if they think there is something wrong they tell you (my GP, told me straight away when I went with my problem that he thought it was cancer) I don't think your GP would give you false reassurance.

Best of luck, waiting is horrible, so be kind to yourself, try to fill in your spare time with stuff you enjoy that will help you relax.

thanks for posting KurriKurri and for your reassurance - I've managed to bury the sick feeling a bit by getting on with some work. My GP specifically said that she would tell me if she was worried. the appointment should be in the next 2 weeks, apparently.my head, and logic, tells me it's ok. but there's obviously a pit of worry in my tummy - we're not always rational are we? and I didn;t have anyone I could even tell when I came home - dh on holiday til wednesday - and no point in worrying him. 2 best friends up to their eyes in (proper) worries of their own. mum just not the type I could tell without her having a melt down.so thanks for responding - was feeling a bit lonely!

I hope you are doing ok

Hatwoman - I have been in your situation and whilst I know it is very scary, the Dr is unlikely to have said that it's probably ok unless she is pretty sure. Appts at the breast clinic come through very quickly and you can phone them if you are worried. Mine was done and dusted in a couple of weeks and all turned out to be fine. Good luck.
