And she has told us ths morning she has to go back today, to a different hospital, for more tests and to speak to a doctor, what could that mean? She wont tell us much.

Lots of women are called for further tests after breast screening, and the vast majority don't have cancer.

There's several reasons for this - the first being that on the screening mammography units the radiographers can't see the images when they have taken them, so can't check that they have got a good picture (taking mammograms is really technically challenging), so lots of women are recalled just to get a good clear picture. The next is that lots of ladies have benign cysts, thickenings, bits of calcium, scars etc in their breasts, but these may need a close up view to double check them, and sometimes a fine needle aspiration (they use a small needle to draw off some fluid to see if it's a cyst or what is going on)

They will do all the tests necessary today, so she won't be left worrying unecessarily if they can at all help it.

Fingers crossed for her today

Turns out mum went in for a biopsy today, they have taken 3 samples and have told her to prepare for the worst, as it is most likly cancer, I suppose they can tell by the look of the sample

So sorry to hear that . I hope for her that she will be one of the majority of women who, caught with early breast cancer will have their treatment, unpleasant as it is, and then make a full and permanent recovery
