I've been incredibly stupid...advice needed.

I've namechanged. Am in a bit of a state, not sure if this belongs in health but here goes. I could really use an answer to this question, but please don't flame me as I feel terrible enough as it is.

Last week a old friend of mine died in a car accident. She was 39, had a young dc, it's incredibly tragic. Her funeral was on Friday and awful as you might imagine. I travelled across the country as many old friends did...I went alone, leaving dh home with our 2 kids.
Anyway, myself and a few of her old friends stayed in a hotel after the funeral and proceeded to get absolutely wasted. We all partied hard together in our twenties and I ended up doing, for the first time in over a decade, two small lines of coke. Felt dreadful the next day of course. Anyway, towards the middle of last week I finished weaning my 8 month old daughter, had only been doing evening breast-feeds for a month or so prior to that. This morning my 4 year old D'S wakes covered in chicken pox. GP recommended reto help immunity againstitfor dd, but am now terrified about those lines. Doc says even small amount of milk helpful, so wd like to return to an evening freed, but really unsure when it might be safe. Can anyone help?

Found this:

"Occasionally a woman will use cocaine once during the time she is lactating, and the recommendation for breastfeeding then is for a woman to "pump and dump" her milk for 36-48 hours after cocaine use before resuming breastfeeding."

She's probably already got it - the virus is spread before the pox appears. Don't beat yourself up about it - all the immunity would have come from the long term feeding you have already done.

On the plus (or minus) side your 4 year old will have probably started his summer hols a bit early!

Realised I ended that rather abruptly. As I said I would like to return to giving dd an evening breastfeed while my older boy has chicken pox. (I know it might not make a difference but worth a shot). Anyone know when I can safely do this? Info on the net seems to really vary...xx

I think she will probably already have it too, but if it is Friday, you should be fine now, esp if it was only 2 small lines.

Don't beat yourself up - I think under the circumstances it was understandable to want to relive your youth a bit.

I agree your daughter may already have the virus. I also can't believe that if you only stopped feeding a week or so ago that she wouldn't still be carrying some immunity - no expert though. By 8mo, unless she has other health problems, she's strong enough to handle chicken pox.

Thanks ladies for the support and non judgement. I've never pumped but do you think if I left it at least 48 hours it would be out of my system? Some stuff on the net says it can remain in body for a week, and there is some awful stuff about how toxic cocaine in breastmilk can be - but I don't know if they are talking large amounts.

I feel like such a fool, wish I could turn back the clock

Honestly dont worry about it - go forth and feed your daughter.

Thanks again all. I do still feel so worried it could somehow harm her, might leave it another 24 hours. Does anyone know how long immunity from breastfeeding lasts? I know nothing is concrete and kids can catch things it even if I was fully breastfeeding, but wondering roughly how long...? (am thinking I could just go against docs advice- not do anymore bf, and spare myself the worry!) xx
