Thread veins

In the last year or so I've been noticing horrible thin purple veins appearing on my legs. I'm only in my early 20s - I thought thread veins were something that much older women got. The larger blue veins on my legs have also become more noticeable through my skin.

What's causing them and can I do anything about them? I had a year where I was very sedentary due to mild depression, and I'm also a couple of stone overweight and I wondered if that contributed to them, but I'm much more active now and they still seem to be appearing. Can anyone help?

My Sis had these on her cheeks and thighs and she had them lasered. Not sure how much it cost or how many treatments it took, but she was very happy with the results! I've got a few since being PG, which I suppose it something to do with the extra blood flow and the hormones, but I've just been using that every day tanner and it seems to disguise them a bit!

I'm taking Dianette at the moment so maybe all the extra oestrogen is causing it. I also seem to get random bruises on my legs since I started taking it.

I have dark skin so I'm not sure whether laser surgery would be appropriate. I looked into it for acne scars and apparently it can cause even more scarring. It may be worth me having a consultation to find out more.

I've heard that the laser treatment can do that. I have pigmentation on my cheeks from when I was PG and was looking into laser treatment, but decided against it as I'd rather just cover them up than them potentially getting worse.

I think you can also have something injected into thread veins to make them less visible. Might be worth ringing around to see what treatments are also on offer!

I'm sure hormones play a part in it, since most of mine came during pregnancy, so might just be worth having a chat with your gp about your pill, especially if it's also causing bruising.
