Sorry, I have n idea wht they are, but I would suggest a visit to the doctors

Posted message on here as unable to get appointment until Friday, pharmacist can only suggest see Dr,I know they are busy and don't for one minute blame them but getting an appointment most of the time is like trying to get blood out of stone,if you claim emergency to get a quick appointment they treat you like a criminal when you walk in and I feel like one because I don't feel like it's a life or death matter I just want to see someone!

could it be thrush?or something he ate and had an allergy?sorry im not much help, hope hes ok!

Does he have any spots on his hands and feet? If so, it's possible that it's hand foot and mouth disease, which is relatively mild but highly infectious. Good luck!

Philly - I don't think it's serious, as long as he is well in other respects. One of my sons produces small lumpy swellings on the back of his tongue when he is going down with something: I have always assumed its some sort of protective mechanism.

Philly - we have come across lumpy bumpy bits only twice with our DD. When she was really little and still breast feeding she had oral thrush - white spots that seems a little lumpy - not sore though unless rubbed and then they bleed. Oral thrush looks like milky spots but are fairly flat and small. I don?t think that it will be this if the spots are lumpy.

I think it is more likely that it could be something like hand foot mouth disease - this is a fairly common childhood illness (although I hadn?t heard of it until DD caught it) and doesn?t have to appear on hands, feet and in the mouth like the name suggests, it can be located in just one area. My DD gave it to me and I have to disagree with tamum - in your mouth it is incredibly painful. I had lumps all over my tongue, tonsils and back of my throat and was miserable with it. The lumps were pink/red shiny bumps and hurt!. I didn?t get any on my hands and feet but my DD got lumps on the soles of her feet but they didn?t seem to bother her. When I spoke to my hv she was happy with my diagnosis and didn?t suggest any form of treatment other than taking good old calpol to ease any pain - we both had a very slight temperature but nothing to get concerned about. Can?t remember how long it lasted, about a week I think.
If he is eating and drinking well enough (esp. in this weather) and isn?t suffering from any other symptoms such as high temp. I wouldn?t worry too much.

I know what you mean about making GP appointments but they are usually good if it is a young child. If you are still worried tomorrow, how about phoning your health visitor for advice - at least then if she/he suggest a GP appointment you can feel a bit more justified in insisting he is seen.
Good Luck - hope he is feeling better soon.
