She said she was going to refer me for a tooth extraction under sedation. Will it cost more than the normal procedure ??

This morning I went for a cavity (it went fine, then a repair on a tooth, it went wrong from that moment, I have started crying, begged her to stop so she didnt extract the tooth. I couldnt relax at all, I was scared she was going to stab in the jaw ! Lovely dentist by the was, its just me the big wuss.

O Sumeerfruit, I know exactly how you are feeling - big reassuring hug coming your way.
I think sedation costs more but if it means you'll be more comfortable then it will be worth every penny.
One of my crowns came out yesterday from chewing on pork crackling and now I've got to go to dentist tomorrow afternoon much to my absolute fear.
My teeth are so so sensitive, just to clean them sends me shooting up to the ceiling (and why is it that they hold that cold spray thing right on your sensitive bits...like they know??!!)so the thought that they probably can't just simply glue the crown back on, and my misadventure will cause me at least 30 minutes of extreme discomfort, tears and breath holding is scaring the shit out of me!
So totally understand ur fear and if I could go under sedation for every appointment I had I would be a very happy woman!!

OK Hammy its simple, ask for a local anaesthetic before they recement your crown, because the enamel was removed in preparation for a crown its very senitive to cold air,a good dentist would do it quickly, unfortunately the cement used is very cold and will cause sensitivity for a little while.
Summerfruit,im presuming she will refer you to hospital, better to have sedation if very nervous, unfortunately teeth can be brittle when decayed and obviously the dentist doesnt want you to suffer.

Remember if you a crown cause of a root canal you won't feel anything.

I hate the dentist, my arms kill when I come out from gripping the chair. Wish I had one if those where you can wstchs films.

I recently had dental work done under sedation. I usually am private (no choice here ) but last year had the experience from hell after the dentist misdiagnosed my nerve pain as a bad tooth and tried to remove it when it was actually Trigeminal Neuralgia. Severe pain for months til the right meds and me traumatised...

I had to be referred to an NHS specialist dentist, but then it was a one off fee (£45) for everything done under sedation.
It wasn't a total general anaesthetic, but 'conscious sedation'.. something into the vein and that was it... I don't remember a thing, they did lots of work and it was GREAT!!!! I would pay a lot more than that fee to have it again if needed. No pain, no fear, just needed someone to drive me home....

Hope you can get sorted quickly!!
