Can I ask a question about chest pain? (I'm not in need of medical attention so don't stress)

I keep getting really sharp pains in my chest on the left hand side. They last about 2-3 seconds, it makes me hold my breath but this doesn't ease it, then it just goes away. It's been going on for years, I have mentioned it to the GP, he listens and says it's OK, I'm just wondering if anyone else has this? It doesn't happen all the while, once every few weeks. TIA

It's fine saying it sounds like x,y z

Get thee arse to the Gp and get a thorough check up and if needs be push for a full heart check up (including 24 trace and a scan)

Paris!

Night winny

Purple lips and fingernails, breathless (like I can't breathe in properly), light headed most of the time. I do often walk and feel like I'm floating along, it's quite odd, a bit like I've been taking codeine I did mention all this to the GP a while ago (my mum was going to cut my allowance- I did say it was a while ago). I have to go back so I'll ask them again.

Hi, the heartbeat 'problem' you have is absolutely, completely and humanly normal. It tends to happen when the heart beat is lowish hence usually noticed when resting, lolling or indeed if you are very very fit. As the pulse speeds up there is not time for the heart to have one of these 'extra' beats with a compensatory pause. The worst thing is that everyone thinks there is something seriously wrong and that death is imminent. It is not, you are allowed to have up to five of these EVERY minute before treatment is necessary. It has been linked to electrolyte shifts so eat plenty of bananas, oranges and if you get a run of them as can sometimes happen try and cough a few times which surprisingly seems to reset things. But the bottom line to all MNs is that it is normal and does NOT need to be 'checked out'
