Weird pain in my head and face when I bend down

Hello, wondering if anyone can tell me anything about a really odd pain I just had in my head?

Bent down to pick up some clothes for washing and was hit by a really sharp, extreme pain in my head and face - from my scalp down over my right eye and forehead. Felt tingly and a bit like burning. Was so painful it took my breath away - a real OW! Took a while to go away but improved after standing up.

If anyone can tell me 'don't panic you aren't going to die' that would obviously be helpful. Although I am a sensible person and try not to be a hypochondriac it was bloody weird.

Don't panic - you're not going to die! I have had something similar when my sinuses were infected. Worse pain when bending over is a classic symptom. Another possibility would be you caught a nerve in your neck by moving awkwardly and the pressure released when you stood up.

Having said all that, I'm not a doctor - just speaking from personal experience of both minor neck injuries and infected sinuses. Hopefully someone more qualified will come along soon

I was going to say sinuses too, really really hurts even if they are just blocked never mind if they are infected!

It's your sinuses.

Unless when you bent down you head-butted something sharp.

Sounds a lot like sinus pain. Pressure in the sinus area - the 'triangle' incorporating forehead, eye sockets, cheekbones and nose - caused by a build-up of mucus in the connecting passages can be made worse by bending over. If you've ever travelled by air when you have a head cold, the sensation is similar.

If you're worried, obviously, see a doctor.

Ah, OK, sinuses. That sounds comfortingly normal. Thank you all very much for reassuring me.

Obviously I've been lucky to reach such an mature age without having that kind of sinus pain before!

MrsMargate I'm normally the first to headbut something if it happens to be within a 15 feet radius. Or catch myself on the door frame. Or stub my toe. But not this time!
