Does bad news make anyone else anxious

It's been one hell of a week:

  • Wednesday was the anniversary of my dad's death;
  • Thursday we hear that DH's cousin is in a coma after a fall;
  • Friday one of his best friends is in an accident at work and could now lose the sight in one eye;
  • today we've heard that DH's cousin has been declared brain dead and they're switching off the life support.

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and normally a fairly rational person, the pregnancy has been pretty easy but my blood pressure has been slightly up a few times.

Tonight I've got a headache, a touch of neusea and my feet are very slightly puffy, all explainable by the heat and worry, but mum had pre-eclamcia with me and I'm just winding myself up waiting for the next thing to go wrong!

I have no real symptoms that need me to go to hospital and doing so for peace of mind wouldn't work for me as I'd wind myself even more for making an unnecessary fuss.

I guess I'm just looking for any suggestions as to how I can keep calm and ideally get rid of this headache!

Thanks

Sorry it's so long

my goodness, no wonder you're feeling anxious. I know you're pregnant but how about chillaxing in the bath with a glass of wine? Keep the windows open if its too warm? Couple of paracetamol for the headache?

BTW, I have had times like that and soooo know the feeling of waiting for the next thing to go wrong

Keep an eye on those symptoms.

Try not to worry.

Thanks for the reply funnys, DH has suggested going for a little walk in a bit as it's a bit cooler now.

Might pick up some wine and have a small glass in the bath when we get back - think stessing is probably doing more harm than a little wine.......

Fab - DH has researched every potential symptom and is making sure I take it easy and go to the hospital when I need to, thanks for the thoughts

enjoy your walk. Being pregnant is hard work non? My DS2 is 3 months old and I hope NEVER to go through it again!

If there are a lot of stressful things going on, you've got a headache, nausea, puffy feet and you think your BP could be raised then do make an appointment to see your health provider for a check-up as a precaution. If you start getting dizzy spells or disturbed vision, really go straight away. Having experienced the early phase of pre-eclampsia myself (started around 34/35 weeks) I know that 'keeping calm' is of limited effect.

Thanks for the messages.

chil1234 everything was back to normal yesterday but am keeping an eye on things and will make an appointment if anything changes.

Thanks again
