Call 999 NOW

Try to relax - count slowly as you breathe in and out

stand with your hands on your head, elbows out to open up your lungs

wubblybubbly · 21/05/2010 20:48

Have you called 999 yet skint?

What helps me is sitting somewhere with plenty of fresh air, like the doorstep, leaning forward so your chest has plenty of space and breathing in deeply through the nose and breathing all of the way out slowly.

But you need to call 999 first!

Please make sure you're empyting your lungs out fully before taking another breath.

It helps to calm you and means you can get more oxygen in there if there's no carbon dioxide left.

And dial 999, please.

mathanxiety · 21/05/2010 20:54

Bowen therapy for emergency use and a bit of relief. CALL 999 though. This is not instead of medical help.

SkintFlatChestedTomboy · 21/05/2010 21:02

wubblybubbly · 21/05/2010 21:04

can you try the inhaler again now that you're breathing a bit better?

ravenAK · 21/05/2010 21:05

OK, cab to A&E if you're definitely feeling better.

But really, if you're on your own & this bad, & can't use the inhaler, don't hesitate to ring 999.

LadyBuzz · 21/05/2010 21:05

call 999! you need to get checked

blinks · 21/05/2010 21:07

if you still can't speak in complete sentences, you need emergency assessment.

what's stopping you from calling 999?

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 21/05/2010 21:07

So glad you went for help. Hope you're feeling better now.

blinks · 22/05/2010 01:30

glad to hear that you're ok.

are you going to make an appt with your GP to re-assess your medications?

and don't feel bad about using ambulance for an asthma attack. it's the most clinically safe option.

Once this episode is under control, have a look at the Buteyko breathing method for asthma.
