Signs of a dislocated shoulder???

Anyone know the signs of a dislocated shoulder? My mum has rung me to say that she was cleaning on her hands and knees ( at a funny angle) and did something to her shoulder and then suddenly had awful pain. She said some movements are agony but others are not. I said i'd run her to A & E and she said no way as it would be a waste of time. She says it cannot be dislocated as she "didn't make any sudden movements" and apparently if she sits still and doesn't move it it's fine!

Just wondered if anyone has experienced anything like this or knows signs of a possible dislocated shoulder?

thanks

Dislocation would mean that her shoulder was relocated in a slightly odd position.... the pain is very pronounced and probably wouldn't go away if she sat still. What can happen relatively easily is pulling a muscle in the neck/shoulder/back area. And collarbones snap with monotonous regularity

I'd suggest treating it as a muscle strain in the first instance with ibuprofen and heat. If it's no better after a day or so, she should take up the offer of a trip to A&E.
