What can I take for my awful PMT?

Hi

I've always suffered from PMT, however over the last six months (since I split up with my husband) I have been terrible?

In fact this whole period thing is a nightmare for me, I suffer from terrible ovulation pain which a gynae told me the only cure was to go on the pill, which makes the PMT worse! Then I get terrible PMT about a week before, clumsy, tearful and so bad tempered and irritable. Then when my period arrives it's heavy and so painful

So I think I should take some kind of supplement, I only really want to take one tablet a day, otherwise I will forget. So can anyone recommend a reasonably priced one dose tablet please and make mine and my daughters life a bit more pleasant

Well I take starflower oil, not evening primrose. It makes a HUGE difference for me. If I take one tablet everyday I don't get either physical or emotional signs of pmt.
If I forget then it's horrible: bloating, pain, massive tension and anger. Worth a try?
I've put a friend onto this who was also suffering and it's helped her loads HTH

Try agnus castus or black cohosh - I use tinctures as they get into the system easier than tablets. You need to give them a coupla months to become effective.

eat plenty of colourful fruits and veg and some soya products if you can - the phytooestrogens can help. Also essential fatty acids - avocados, oioly fish or take a supplement.

Goo luck.

Do you want more children? If not then endometrial ablation might be a solution. I've posted a few times before. As well as sorting out your heavy periods it apparently usually improves PMT too.

For me regular sport and relaxing massage helps. I have read in phsycology book that PMT is also related to unexressed negative emotions, which in case of devorce is likely to be a reason. Maybe it's worth visiting phsycologist rather than a doctor? Good luck!
