Hi all dont know if any of you have any advice but any ideas welcome as my poor DH is not getting a good deal right now!!

Its all a very long story but will try to be as brief as possible:

-Came off the pill in early 2005 (For some fertility blood tests, due to family history)

  • Had no period for 18 months and then very intermittent
  • Had scan for PCOS was all Ok as were bloods, no reason for dodgy periods.
-Decided to try for little un in 2008. We were so unbelievebly lucky I still cant believe it and we welcomed her in May last year. -I have got a semi regular cycle back (ranges between 4 and 7 weeks but nowhere near like before) -Ever since I have got HORRIBLE PMS. I am moody, nagging, low labido, headachey, anxious, frustrated, cant sleep and snappy - want to scream at people (though never my little un, normally the shoutly urges are towards DH, Boss and my Mum)

This all lasts for a week, sometimes 2 and I only realise how unreasonable I am when I am back to "normal".

As it has been a while since I have had anything like a normal cycle I cant remember if this is normal or I might need some help? Any advice welcome - even if its to tell me just to get a grip!

Oh dear, poor you. I was like that my first few periods after having both DD and DS.

I don't know how old you are but apparently when you are coming up to menopause your periods can go haywire like this.

I find cutting out sugar entirely for the two weeks before I'm due helps and then taking nefamic and transxemic acid during my period helps. As does exercise.

This problem may just go away though once your periods normalise.

try plenty of vitamins and fish oils

Oh I do hope not I am only 29 and DD is the 1 and only. I only really want 1 more in a couple of years time but still!

Cut out the sugar, move around a bit more and see if that helps. Otherwise see your GP for more medically interventions.

Here is what keeps me slightly sane and married!

Star Flower oil or Evening Primrose oil. Take continuously, without a break. One-a-day are best and most supermarkets makes their own so it works out cheaper.

You can get specialist supplements, Boots do a range, that are supposed to help PMS but I can't say I've tried them.

Dark green vegs, even green peppers can help. 25g (no more) per day of dark choc if you crave sweet things. A varied diet, lower fat/lighter meals are good too.

Although you may really want it, try to avoid stodge.

A good quality multivit, A-Z type, will help too.

Go for a walk, on your own or take DD. Even of you go out after dinner now it's lighter, just get some fresh air! Even 10 minutes of no-one needing you, where you are in your own space will help de-stress.

Water. At least 3 pints of just water spread out over the day. Keep a glass handy and just keep filling it.

And if all else fails, get yourself a red button badge to wear so your DH, mum and boss know when to leave you the hell alone!!!!!

Was at a Solgar lecture the other night & they said one of the most important things for PMT is Calcium. You also need vitamin D to absorb calcium. ( Hence the advice to eat more green veg & get exercise outside ). You can take a supplement of both. Fish oil - or specifically Omega 3 is very important, especially if you take evening primrose.

thanks ladies. Will look into the calcium and evening primrose, star and fish oils. Will also look into cutting back on sugar and stodge!

My job involves me walking around for large parts of the day most days and i take dd out a lot so thats good
