Sciatica/aching foot?

I've had sciatica on and off since being pregnant with DS 6 or so years ago, it seems to niggle for a few weeks then disappear for a while, then come back. The last time I had it, it made my foot ache as well - I get the shooting pain in my bum cheek, which fades out as it reaches the back of my knee, and my foot aches. It's like a real deep ache and my foot feels cold and tingly (although warm to touch) as well as my leg feeling heavy.

The sciatica kicked off again about 2 days ago and since yesterday, my foot is aching again. It's a real horrible ache this time, it makes me feel quite sick sometimes and kept me awake for a while after going to bed, last night. Paracetomol does nothing for it.

Does anyone else get this? Is there any way of stopping it? A physio friend told me of a stretch to do to stop it last time, which worked, but it isn't doing anything this time.

I don't really want to take anything stronger for the pain, and googling just throws up horror stories so I thought I'd ask on here in case someone knows of a miracle stretch or something!

Thanks

Go and see an osteopath or chiropractor, I had it in both pregnancies and two visits to the osteo sorted it right out. Good luck, and don't worry about taking painkillers, that's why they were invented!

Is it worth trying an osteopath to stretch it out, sounds mean. Also can you take ibuprofen? That helps with inflammation but best to take it regularly.

Thanks both, I was thinking of an osteopath earlier, will have to have a look and see where my nearest one is. Two visits sounds great!

I can't take ibuprofen as I have/had a stomach ulcer, and co-codamol sends me a bit giddy sometimes, hence the wariness! DH should be home tonight though, so I will take a couple of co-codamol before bed.

Thanks again.
