when does the chicken pox itching come to an end?

Please tell me it is soon! or is it only when the spots disappear? if so, how long do they usually take to disappear after scabbing over?

and while I'm here, is there anything extra I can put on to stop the ferocious ones from scarring? I'm slathering her with everything under the sun already, but some of them are absolute craters

they itch at their worst when they are scabbing over then get much better once the scabs are fully formed.

Don't know about preventing scarring, but bear in mind that even children with awful chicken pox (head to toe) very rarely end up with much noticeable scarring. However, the spots themselves can take several months to fade completely (DS2, who had mild chicken pox, still has marks 3 months on)

Good luck with it. It sounds like you are in the worst phase now, so hopefully over the next couple of days your DD will start to feel much better

thanks, acebaby. she has spots absolutely everywhere, some just look so agressive

they are all fully scabbed now but she is still pretty uncomfortable, especially at night. thanks too for the warning about them taking a while to fade, i had expected sooner than that.

poor little thing. It's so sad to see them uncomfortable I hope she has a better night tonight.

Some say that piriton liquid helps (I'm sure you know this) although I didn't try it with my two

thanks.we have been using zirtek as piriton sent her wild!
She has had a much better night and has gone to nursery for a few hours as she is very bored!

really glad she is feeling better. It sounds like you are over the worst. I'm sure the spots will start to look better soon but now that she isn't contagious it might be worth popping to the GP to check there is no secondary skin infection, particularly as the spots look really angry and are still bothering her even though they have scabbed over. Skin infections are really easily treated with antibiotics (DS2, who has severe ezcema, has had loads - and no scarring yet!)

have a nice weekend!
