Is it normal for someone to have blue/purple lips and fingernails most of the time?

Ds has a doctors appointment later, I'm just wondering if it's worth mentioning. Mine are like this most of the time, even when warm, his are like this less. I just don't know if it's normal??

Eh? I'd definately mention it - may be a heart problem? Circulation? Oxygen saturation?

I don't think its normal - but only by asking a doctor will you find out!

Do some people just look pale with purple lips though? I have mentioned it to the GP before and he's not done anything.

Reynaud's syndrome - poor circulation to the extremities, so they feel cold even when the rest of you is warm?

Any history of asthma?

only asking cos when mine is bad, my face looks grey, lips can look purple and fingernails can do too...

also, my DS tended to have blue/purple lips when wheezy as a toddler...

Is he excessively tired or lacking in energy?

We are both hypermobile, my thinking is Ehlers Danlos syndroms that affects the connective tissue. Ds doesn't heal properly, he was scratched by a child over a year ago and it has left a scar. I don't really want to tell the GP what I think it is though, them being God and all that

Ds has had asthma, I don't. He's lacks energy but doesn't sleep properly, he rolls about alot and wakes up alot. He complains of pain in his legs and feet when he walks and finds PE really difficult because his legs ache. He has very flat feet.

He has been in hospital overnight for monitoring as he went blue, his sats dropped to 88 but they said it was probably normal for him and this was not followed up.

He's not needed to use his inhaler for months. I remember him having blue toenails when he was a baby, long before the asthma was diagnosed. The sats were recorded on his medical records though, they seem to fluctuate dramatically throughout the night. He doesn't snore so I don't think it's adenoids, he really doesn't sleep well though but he never has. He always looks so tired when he wakes up.

The GP's referring ds to a paediatrician as he wasn't sure, he think's it could be Ehlers Danlos but he's not sure.
