On a real downer today , had an op in january to remove endometrosis my 3rd one in 9 years , I have had 3 painfree periods and then last night I was up all night in agony and came on this morning , feel like I have had an operation for nothing, I am usually generally pain free for up to about 18 months after an op , cant beleive how bad I was and so soon. Any one else experienced pain so soon

Hi olijackmum, I totally sympathise. I also had the same op in Jan. Was put on triple cycles of the pill to limit the endo growth but 1st period I had after was truly the worst ever. Just finished one that was a bit better so I really hope yours settles. I've found taking the Diclofenac they prescribed helps on bad days, along with hugging a microwaveable wheat bag. Going for an MRI soon as they couldn't get it all out and there's loads of adhesions- my bowel is attached to my tummy wall apparently!

Hi marriednotdead that sounds awful , I hate it , I dont think people realsie how painful and serious it can be . I ahve beeb fighting for a hysterectomy for a couple of years now as I dont want any more children but finally after this last op I had the doctor has agreed next time will consider it as there has been quite alot of damage so i as cant have more children anyway now if i wanted it.
I was just so down yesterday as I thought i would be painfree for a while

Hi olijackmum, I know some days the pain really does get to you. My diagnosis was only Jan but I reckon it has been there around 20 years! It's killed off at least 2 relationships... Don't be rushing for a hysterectomy though. They have been trying to persuade my sister to for the last 18 years. She has declined on the basis that the endo is not confined to her womb and they cannot guarantee it won't spread during surgery. Unless they remove both ovaries as well it will continue to grow and will attach to other organs too. If men got this they'd be a cure by now
