list of all the combined contraceptive pills ?

I am considering the need to change my current brand of contraceptive pill for many reasons.

I have tried looking online for a list of the current pills available and their side effects etc etc but can not come across any such lists.

Does anyone know where I can access this info other than making an appt with my gp ?

Thanks

Short of buying one of those 'drug' guides the GP thumbs through looking for eg correct dose of antibiotic X for toddler (most reassuring!) I dunno. I know three low dose ones are Femodette, Myrogynon 20 (?) and Loestrin 20 (have tried em all - higher dose ones give me permanent morning sickness!).

I would google the list of issues you're having with your current one and see what other people have suggested changing to.

The problem is there are so many 'brand' names that are essentially the same pill and the side effects aren't uniform.

You're better of thinking about a list of side effects you don't want and avoiding those, then going to your GP.

Surely you'll need an appointment either at the FPC or with your GP to change anyway? Is there any reason you want to stay on the pill and wouldn't consider a coil or similar? Or a POP?

Okay - sorry for hijack OP - wtf is a POP??

Progesterone Only Pill

Yes I will need to see the GP anyway to get changed to another type of pill but I just wanted to try and make some sort of informed choice myself before they start to baffle me with their medical knowledge thats all.

Have been on a few forums/review sites but they haven't helped massively as every opinion differs on my current brand (Cilest) and the other varieties.

I guess we all react differently to each sort so I shouldn't go on other people's experiences with them necessarily.

Current symptoms I want to avoid are spots on face and lowered sex drive in particular.
I don't really know if these are attributed to the pill I am taking tho thats the problem but can think of nothing else causing them. Have been on Cilest since the age of 18 and I am now 32 and its only recently that I have noticed these problems.

I would prefer to stick to a pill if possible as I find it really easy and it suits me. Although I have had two children I don't fancy a coil etc being put in, lame excuse I know.
POP would be ok too I guess, have not looked into it massively tho I must admit. The one thing that does deter me a bit tho is the small time frame that you have to take it within each day. Not that I miss pills, forget etc but it has happened on the odd occasion.

aaaah thanks. You mean 'minipill'?? My sis went on that - more zits but no period for several mths then serious flooding, in the middle of a mtg at work . End of that option. Personally for all its faults I find a combined is predictable, keeps zits at bay, and unlike a coil can be 'stopped' immediately. I also have a coil phobia despite two DCs. Hence my 'tour' of low-dose combineds..

Yep, can also be called the minipill, although confusingly low dose combineds are called minipill some places. If you say progesterone only people know what you mean.
