What 'alternative' remedies have you tried that really work?

I swear by Arnica for bumps & bruises but have been disappointed with some other remdies (e.g. pulsitilla for conjuncivitus).

I use lavender oil loads & a few others.

What remedies have you used and which work best - especially on children?

Thought echinacea had officially been poo pooed now. One link here and there was another study in the papers last week stating it was ineffectual.

yeah but have you noticed that most studies like this poo poo alternative remedies
i think the pharmacuetical industry are worried or that they dont always work for everyone
the important thing is i know lots of them have worked for me

Am playing Devil's Advocate really lunachic. Don't particularly care about echinacea/alternative remedies especially (don't mean that snottily) - they're just different chemicals really.

My new GP's a homeopath.

The faculty of homeopathy produce a list of GP's, Health visitors, Nurses, Midwives, Dentists and Vets in the UK who are also providers of homeopathic treatment.

Just thought this might be of interest to some .

Magscat - my two were the same. DD slept 13 hours a night from three months old. She only ever woke at night if she was sick. DS used to wake several times a night for the first 9 months - his favourite time was 5am! At 9 months old we used a combination of controlled crying and passiflora and his sleeping improved dramatically. Even now he's still not a brilliant sleeper - any small illness or change in routine can have him up at 5am again for weeks at a time before he settles down.
