Not only registered but previously donated. Happy to bump

GoldenSnitch · 19/04/2010 21:01

Well done whomovedmychocolate!. I only registered a couple of months ago and will have to wait a bit longer to be eligible to donate as DD is only 16 weeks old but all my details are in the system ready to go

What was donating like?

Apparently not as painful now as it was when I donated (it was some 15 years ago).

GoldenSnitch · 19/04/2010 21:05

That's the bit that scares me!

Not as much as the thought of not being able to find a donor for someone I love if they were to get ill though which is why I registered. Got to be willing to give if you are willing to recieve

Well look, chances are you will not be a match, but I was lucky enough to receive a letter from the mum of the young man I helped. He was 14. He got back to school after treatment and for him, it made the difference between him being around to do his exams, or not.

Knowing that made it easier to donate.

GoldenSnitch · 19/04/2010 21:14

Oh I'd donate if I was a match - no question.

I'm a wimp when it comes to pain but a stubborn one

Tis apparently not painful these days - well beyond a needle stick prick.

Used to be quite ouchy though.

GoldenSnitch · 19/04/2010 21:24

It's an amazing thing to do. You will have made a massive difference to that boy and his family. I expect it was worth it.
