Breast lump & Breatsfeeding: URGENT

Advice is needed please (reasurring if possible...) My dd is 10 wks old and i'm still bf her. Last wek while feeding I noticed a lumpish thing in my breast. (When my left hand is cupped under my left breast when offering her a feed I could feel a lump with my thumb..) I have been to the dr who thinks it's a blocked duct and asked me to come back in 2 weeks time to check it again. Anyway not one to leave things I have been referred privatly as the nhs's waiting time is currently 3 weeks. I'm due to see a consultant next thurs and i'm petrified.. Has anyone else experienced this and had a postive outcome? The lump does not hurt, seems to be more noticable once the breast is drained of milk and only when sat up. It's not so obvious when i'm lying down etc. BTW i'm 26.
Please can someone offer me advice prior to my appointment next week. Thanks xx

PS I did post this message the other day but can't find it..sorry if you have already replied to it.xx

I really do hope that it all goes brilliantly and that if the consultant does not know what it is right away that test are quick and painless.

I do feel for you. Only 4 more sleeps to go. (My kids count down the sleeps rather than the days betweeen visits with DH)

cadmum, just to update you...i'm back from my private consultation following my concern over my breast lump. The consultant was lovely and advised me that what he can feel is nothing unusual and that I shouldn't really have been concerned. He advised me that Doctors have to treat and look for so many illnesses that it's not possible for them to be fully trained etc. Apart from the fact that it's cost us to be told this I'm not to bothered because at least I'm reasurred that all is normal!!
Basically he has shown me how to examine myself properly and has told me that although I felt the lump while cupping my breast and this gave me concern this is not a way to examine myself and that usually anything felt in this way is not to be concerned about. He said anything felt while lying down should be looked into further.

Yippee..think i'm off to start on that bottle of wine....How much stress have I been under over the last 2-3 weeks..???????

Thanks for your help and advice though over this. Also wanted to post this in case anyone else is experiencing the same now or at a later date.
xx

Yippee!

I really don't know how I missed this on Thursday... Sorry for not replying earier. I was thinking of you and only just now did it occur to me to do a search to find this thread...

I am so pleased for you. You must be filled with relief; I can remember having to resist the urge to dance all the way home from the appt where I discovered that my lump was also nothing to be worried about.

I really was very pleased to see the outcome of you appt!

Scan tomorrow...

Trying not to be really nervous. My last two pregnancies ended in missed miscarriage discovered at a scan so they are not my favourite actitvity...

Thans for asking/remembering!
