The bbc news I was just watching said it was this evening that's the problem. I'm going out today but will stay in this evening. Just make sure you have your inhaler with you.

Rob1n · 16/04/2010 10:27

I have not seen a health warning - perhaps this is for certain parts of the country? They have said that any ash at lower levels will not be significant enough to affect health but I will be keeping my baby inside as a precaution.
Perhaps irrational? And such a shame today as it is a nice day.

Sonilaa · 16/04/2010 10:33

this is from the BBC

I now decided to walk to the nearby playground instead to get a little excercise and stay indoors for the rest of the day just to be safe.

On R4 this morning it was pointed out that quite a lot of people live near volcanoes and don't seem to have particular health problems.

Rob1n · 16/04/2010 10:45

But I think this eruption was slightly different as it exploded through the ice & caused some sort of reaction with the rock.

MrsShu · 16/04/2010 10:46
Hmm
Rob1n · 16/04/2010 10:58

yeah, sounds pretty geeky I know!

So are we just doing our usual British 'blowing things out of proportion'?

BariatricObama · 16/04/2010 11:01

ffs, go outside you loons

fidelma · 16/04/2010 16:30

We have dust covering the car.I have cleaned the windscreen and it is back pretty fast.I am not too keen on the children playing out.We have all been swimming, however we have friends comming over and I think we will be all outside.I am stressed about it.DH is taking the piss out of me!!!!

Hulababy · 16/04/2010 16:38

The BBC page says any health risks are minimal and not particularly likely anyway from what I can gather. So really only those with things like asthma should be taking extra care to have meds on them incase. However, from that BBC link it is not recommending people stay indoors.

doggiesayswoof · 16/04/2010 16:40

Go outside you nutters

The only warning is to make sure you have your meds with you if you have a condition like asthma

cheesesarnie · 16/04/2010 16:41

i cannot imagine the mood of my dc if i kept them indoors on this lovely day.ds2 is asthmatic but he has an inhaler.im not worried.

LynetteScavo · 16/04/2010 16:42

Well I had dust over my car yesterday morning, and slightly this morning. I'm not concerned, though. I mean, you'd just never leave the house if you started worry8ing about every little thing that could damage your health.

doggiesayswoof · 16/04/2010 16:42

OP I think you should read the article you linked to

Seriously

If it is any help, our house was covered in black dust from the latest Monserratt explosion a few weeks ago and I can't say I noticed any affects except a gritty mouse pad.

Keep your lap tops closed.
