Steroid healing cream?

Please help if you have any advice about steroid creams. In winter I got a bad cut on my forehead whilst gardening (tackling brambles) it's healing slowly and so far the only thing I have put on it is comfrey cream, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience using steroid healing cream (if such a thing exists) on the face? Should I use something more aggressive than the comfrey cream? I was worried that anything stronger might itch because I have gone to great pains to keep the scab untouched.

It is unsightly and I am really tired of waiting for it to heal, maybe it's taking so long because I am worn out breastfeeding?

Any advice very welcome.

maybe you should see the GP - do you think it's infected?

you can only buy a very weak steroid cream- 1% hydrocortisone and they won't sell you it if it is for your face.
Steroids are for inflammation such as eczema, not scratches.

Sounds like you need to see your GP.

Fucidin if you can get hold of it!!

And cortopin if you can't. (that's an over the counter one, they ask you twenty questions before they hand it over, but they will hand it over). My kids have eczema. It's fine for short term use. It would thin the skin if you used it indefinitely. It's about 0.!% cortisone but it still works VERY well. Amazingly well..

Def go see your GP. Steroid creams may reduce the inflammation, but they are unlikely to heal the woubd. Furthermore, steroid crams thin the skin so are not indicated for facial use where the skin is already thinner. It could be taking a while to heal because you are run down, but don't use any other creams before getting it checked out by your GP.

Thanks everybody, you are all so kind, I definitely don't think it's infected, just it was a bad cut and has been upsetting, I'll go to my GP.

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge about this.
