I have several on my neck that are when I catch them quite painful. Can the nurse do them at the surgery?

yes, but you can do it yourself with a piece of cotton thread tied tightly around

dearprudence · 09/04/2010 21:34

Yep, you can tie cotton round them if they're sticky-out enough.

ravenAK · 09/04/2010 21:35

I pulled a load off with tweezers (was slightly pissed, seemed like a good idea at the time....)

They bled everywhere - don't recommend it. & they grew back!

Can you zap them with wart stuff maybe?

hocuspontas · 09/04/2010 21:36

Yes - a GP and nurse did mine at the surgery.

I think there's an old thread on here somewhere where a poster did DIY on hers using cotton. (Don't search if you are of a delicate disposition )

PrettyCandles · 09/04/2010 21:38

I've done it the thread way. You may need someone to pull them gently while you ti them off (or vice-versa), as it's best to tie them off as near the base as possible. Then trim the ends of the thread and leave for a few days. The tag will turn black, dry up, and drop off.

Alternatively you may be able to get your GP to do it, tho they're not always keen to do so. They use a local anaesthetic, then cut it off and may also cauterize the wound. I've done this, too.

Will no doubt do these things again, as I seem to be sprouting more of them.

I'm pregnant and have found a couple of tiny ones on my boobs

I had at them with gritted teeth and tweezers, pronto. I'm not prissy about my appearance, but that was beyond the pale.

I'd go with the cotton thread method for starters.

GeekyGirl · 09/04/2010 21:42

I snip mine off with nail clippers. It only works if they are quite small, otherwise it hurts too much. They bleed a bit but only the same as any cut.

missmoopy · 09/04/2010 21:54

Have clipped mine off before but have some larger ones now and hoping GP will remove them. I bloody hate them. My Gran had dozens and they make me feel old!

petalpower · 09/04/2010 22:01

I had one right on my bra line which got very uncomfortable. When I mentioned it to my GP she asked if I wanted rid of it, disappeared then came back with a pair of scissors and cut it off! No anaesthetic! Didn't bleed but was a bit sore for a day or so.

squirrel42 · 10/04/2010 00:11

I had one under my arm and a matching pair on each eyelid; had them frozen off with liquid nitrogen by a nurse at the local doctors. Stung a bit but no bother, no bleeding and sounds less painful than scissors!

oldraver · 12/04/2010 17:12

I've had quite a few taken off at the docs (been twice and had four removed both times). They were in awkward places like my groin, bra line and one that got caught in a necklace

The first time they I had a local, they were snipped and a stitch put in a couple. The next time she just snipped them. Not sure if I would be brave enough to attempt DIY

deaddei · 12/04/2010 18:43

I am watching this with fascination as I have a few and they are beginning to irritate.
No DIY for me though.

SoupDragon · 12/04/2010 19:15

I've numbed them with an ice cube and then snipped them off with nail clippers before.

SuSylvester · 12/04/2010 19:16

you were teh diy arse doctor werent you

CMOTdibbler · 12/04/2010 20:40

I was hoping someone had a more elegant solution to removal - I have loads and loads of them, but cutting them off is just too painful and messy to contemplate. I do snip off the ones that get in the way, but would love to clear up the patches of them.

bluetooth · 13/04/2010 19:43

Im off to the Dr's about mine could bare to do a DIY on them!!!!
