Trapped wind or gallstones? Eek!

Sorry to go into this on here but I've been having intermittent upper abdomen pains since friday night. They're crampy, gripey pains and they come and go in waves. I feel slightly nauseous with it and the discomfort seems to be radiating into my left shoulder blade and under my ribs. On friday night when the pain forst showed up, I was sweaty, light-headed and had a fast heartbeat. All of those symptoms seem to have ceased.

I don't feel ill enough to call the emergency doctor but the pain doesn't seem to be easing as I would think it would if it were something like gastroenteritis (as I thought it was at first) Sorry to be gross but I did do a pretty tremendous bottom chorus earlier and it alleviated the discomfort for a little while. However, I've just been reading up on gallstones and my symptoms seem similar.

Do any of you MNers know anything about this type of thing?

It does sound v similar to gallstones, I had the same symptoms before I had my gallbaldder removed.

Attacks tend to happen after eating fatty food though they do get progressively worse - I remember getting an attack after having a salad with no dressing! But try to change your diet a little now anyway as it may lessen the attacks slightly.

Best thing to do is to go to the drs, hopefully they'll refer you for a scan to check and then you can talk about treatment. I would recommend getting your gallbladder removed if they offer that option to you. Its keyhole surgery and I was home in 24 hrs.

Thankyou Tilly. I do think that gallstones might be the problem. Zfter much scouring on Google (internet hypochondriac ) it seems that my symptoms are pointing to this. Oh well, I can deal with that.

Thankyou for your post.

If you place two fingers just below your ribcage on the right, press slightly then take a deep breath in, you will know because you will hit the ceiling if it is gallbladder related

You're welcome

Fliight, I never knew that, probably glad not to in retrospect
