Smelly 13 month old - Is this normal?

Hope some of you experts may have some advice, my ds is 13 months and smells quite strange, its more noticeable after he wakes up, his sleeping bag and pillow and clothes around his back and neck smell sort of sickly/musty. I change his bed clothes frequently and wash the pillow and case at least once a week.

Should i see the gp about it? Its worse in this heat, is it just sweat? Am a bit mistified and not sure if its normal. So any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Girly I notice the same smell on ds' pillowcase sometimes, and I'm sure it's sweat. He's a bit of a 'sweater', as my dad and my dh both sweat quite profusely in the heat and I've noticed since ds was born that he breaks into a sweat quite easily.

I just make sure I wash his linen regularly and don't let him get too overheated. I'm sure this is what it is... if your ds doesn't seem unwell in any other way, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Is it a wet dog amell? mine had that at that age too

My 13 month dd also has warm, musty type smell when she wakes I've put it down to dribble, as she sleeps with a comforter and that smells the same and has obviously been in her mouth.

Thanks ladies,

Holly02 - he is a bit of a sweaty chap, takes after his fathers side of the family, might try a fan in his room during the day.

Coddy, its more of a sweet wet dog smell

mimsmum, its a bit more rank than warm and musty unfortunatley

DS1s pillow usedto smell vinegary after 3 days in the summer at that age - I had to keep washing it.

Looks like its more washing then Will not worry about it, thanks everyone

yes my boys hair often smells of wet dog!

Actually after reading that MimsMum - it could be dribble too! Probably a dribble/sweat combination - how lovely

Nowhere near as pleasant as the sweet, talcum powder baby smell they used to have once, is it...

It is not completely relevant but my twin DS have got incredibly stinky feet! I let them run about barefoot but as soon as a pair of socks and shoes goes on them then pooh! This is in cool as well as hot weather.
Take after DH on that one.
