I've had these on and off since DD was born two years ago. I am fine for a bit and then they seem to appear again. They are not huge, but I quite frequently bleed when doing a poo. Very painful at times!

Can anyone recommend any creams that actually work? Or anything else I can do to help get rid of them for good? Is it worth seeing the GP?

Thank you.

proctosydl cream. Has a numbing agent. Although mine are caused by bowel disorder I would imagine the cream for the condition not the cause.

Was precribed by the GP not sure if its an OTC cream sorry.

Good luck

Sympathy. Mine seem to come and go (since had DD - C/S so no pushing involved so don't understand how I got them!). Will watch this thread with interest.

Anyone else?

Come on, don't be shy!!

Mine also come and go since having DD 2.6 years ago... I've used Germaloids and it seems pretty good. I don't think you can get rid of them for good without some physical medical intervention.

according to my colorectal surgeon treating them can be worse and damage muscles -

water water and more water - very helpful I find cos it makes the pooh slide out better - so I have changed to drinking water and got in the habit of every time I am somewhere for a drink, I have a pint of water.

Lots of fiber and fruit also helpful for making good pooh cos the bette the pooh and the better it comes out the less pinful they seem to be.

Have them bad after having DD last summer but didn't get them bad until after I stopped Bfing.

Have tried lots and lots of stuff with varying results. Anusol is good. Anusol HC (OTC with steriod that you use for 1 week) is good but I found it a bit strong so alternated (1 day off and one day on) and used Preparation H Clear Gel in between.

I don't have pain but do have iching. Soooo itchy. Like a 1000 mozzie bites.

I eat healthily and drink lots of water and lots of fiber in diet so no idea why they wont go away.

Have not been to GP about it as too embarrassed.

If anyone has any other ideas I'd love to know.

For itching: instead of wiping with loo paper, wash with water on the loo, then pat dry with loo paper.

Monty100 · 28/03/2010 00:34

Ahem.

I was in huge discomfort, I got sozzled, got the Anisol torpedo pessery???? things, and shoved them back in.

It worked.

Had to be sozzled tho.

Ivykaty44 · 28/03/2010 02:17

this is why the french have a fanny/bum wash - makes much more sense to clean you bum and stop the itching

mumbar · 28/03/2010 08:15

Kids toilet wipes are brilliant too for cleaning. AAlso use aloe vera loo roll!!!

petitmaman · 28/03/2010 08:20

Monty You shoved the actual piles bits back in?? how does that work?? or just the pessery?

Monty100 · 28/03/2010 18:35

Petit - both.

I had inebriation to do so.

But it worked!! And they never came back. lol

perfectmummy · 28/03/2010 20:43

my doc told me to try to push them back in whenever they popped out!!!

fadingfast · 28/03/2010 22:08

Will brace myself for shoving the blighters back in then!

I am probably guilty of not having enough water/fruit tbh, and I perhaps need to persist with the creams. I have stocked up with germoloids and anusol.

I'm also going to try baths with lavender and tea tree oil, which was really good on post-delivery stitches.

Good luck to all fellow sufferers.
