SPD/DSP

Hi, I had terrible SPD after the birth of my first DD, with little help from the Dr who thought I had sciatica, referred me to a useless NHS physio who had me doing the most painful exercises which exacerbated the condition and resulted in me collapsing, unable to move, on my own at home with my 7 month old. I eventually after lots of research thought I might have SPD, and yes this was eventually confirmed after an xray where you could see the mis alignment of my symphysis pubis.
I went to a brilliant, but expensive pilates physio who specialises in the condition and they really helped.
However my DD is now 20 months and i still get days of terrible pain and wonder if it will ever disappear.
Are there any other ladies out there who suffered with this 'after' the birth??
Have you had it again in other pregnancies/births and how did you cope?

Love to hear from anyone who has had these experiences.
Many thanks
S

Hi
Just had my first baby who is 16wks old. Was in hospital for 6days after the birth walking by grabbing on to walls other women's beds etc was lucky in one way though as had Xray whilst still in hospital, confirming DSP with 13mm separation at the symphysis. Had no symptoms of this problem whilst pregnant.

Have been having physio since but pain now bad in coccyx and lower back, also still uncomfortable in hips. So today have been to an osteopath, not very convinced about alternative remedies but willing to try

Hope you're feeling bit better x

Sorry you have suffered this so much and are still in pain.

For me it's 11 weeks after birth of DC2. Had no pelvic problems with DC1 but for last 4 weeks of DC2's pregnancy, my lower back was sore: seemed to be mainly sacro-iliac joints, particularly on right, and right hip i.e. "pelvic instability" rather than SPD. Continued after the birth but gradually improving although still occasionally "ouch"!

Anyway, wanted to recommend these websites just in case you haven't already come across them. I found them useful when the pain was worse. Hope your pain improves.
