Despit hte fact that my Dad had two heart attacks years ago I cant remember the life style changes he has to make while waiting for angioplasty.
presume no saturated fats, salt(he always used to much..) etc?

Sorry to hear about your fil. It's not just diet that needs to change. Does he work still? If so, maybe he needs to slow down. Stress is very bad for angina but avoiding it is easier said than done, of course!

No he is retired!!
What things cant he eat then?

My dad has had angina since age about 50. Since then he's had a couple of heart attacks and strokes and surgery a couple of times. After his first heart attack he had a fairly strict diet. (He's nearly 70 now, btw).
No red meat.
No cheese except Edam (boring).
No butter.
No salt.
Lots of fibre! Wholemeal everything.
Skimmed milk.
No take aways.
And the usual healthy stuff - grilling instead of frying, baked potatoes instead of chips.
We had a diet sheet from the hospital and a leaflet published by Flora with lots of recipes, some of which were really nice and the whole family could enjoy them. That was years ago but I bet your health visitor could find you something.

I heard recently that only a certain amount of cholesterol comes from what we eat, most of it is manufactured in the body so some people are just pre-disposed to high levels. I wonder what gives the Finns their high level of heart disease? Isn't it high in Scotland too?

and they go there on holiday a lot...weird!
