Please come and slap some sense into me. I do not believe that MMR causes autism. I have read plenty of things that convince me it doesn't. But I have a silly superstition about it
Please come and point out that DS needs it asap and no harm will come.

Are you not worried that by asking this you might actually attract comments from a vociferous minority who believe the opposite?

I believe in the MMR because I know what these horrible diseases can do to children, adults and the unborn .
I understand the wobble - I had the same . I would get it over and done with and move on ; life and particularly motherhood is full of such worry there will always something to be anxious about.

I was hesitating as well before DD had it a month ago.
Her paediatrician said that all vaccines can cause damage, none of them are 100% safe.
DD had all her other jabs and in the end I thought the risks from measles and even mumps (deafness) outweigh the risks from the vaccine.
You can delay if you want til you're certain it's the right decision for you.

Right. I have mulled it over. Yes no vaccine is 100% safe. He has had the usual ones and also BCG and nothing bad has happened. I have no reason to believe that anything bad will happen with the MMR.
I didn't really think about that pardon I will just get it done. Thank you.

I had exactly the same wobble a few months ago with DD. Delayed for about 6 weeks, made myself ill due to anxiety fuelled sleep deprivation and then went ahead and all was fine. The relief was absolutely immense!!

I had previously given DS (6) all the childhood immunisations but didn't ever read/or was even aware of 'anti-vaccination' information back then (somehow the media stories passed me by and ignorance was bliss!). It was reading this section on mumsnet that gave me doubts to be honest. I think there's loads of excellent and balanced information about MMR and all the other vax on here but if your instincts are to go for the jab, reading some of the threads can be confusing and may make your decision harder..

All I can say is that neither of my children have had any reactions to the MMR and I haven't wasted a second thinking about it since then.

Don't forget that you have the option of paying for single jabs although as far as I know the single mumps vaccine is no longer available anywhere in this country (not sure if that;s likely to change)

Good luck with your decision and hope everything works out for you.
