Just had Mirena fitted and would appreciate pain relief advice or just some distraction

Title says it all really. It's my third Mirena and not the worst fitting (that was the second one, there was lots of unpleasantness with that one).

I've taken Ibuprofen, the Dr gave me a couple of squirts of something under my tongue (not sure what, I had asked for some Rohypnol), what else can I do to help with pain, cramping and general feelings of nausea and dizziness?

Or, would be very happy to hear tales along the lines of "the pain went away very quickly and I felt up to going bowling the same evening".

have you had a nice cup of tea and something chocolatey? sugar is good for shock

I had my first fitted 6 weeks ago and yes it was a bit crampy, but it didn't last long.

Hope you're feeling better soon

Good point - it is shock, isn't it? I'll get the tea and biscuit sorted right now.

I'm going to focus on 'bit crampy and didn't last long'

Thank you

Nausea and dizziness could be caused by low blood pressure. Apparently bumping about at your cervix can send you into mild shock and make your bp drop. So put your feet up,take a rest, and have plenty to drink. The pain should ease very quickly - I owuld expect certainly by tonight.

The cramping may go on a bit longer. If it's really bothering you, try taking a couple of paracetamol and 1/3 of a Boots Travel Calm tablet. Boots Travel Calm contains Hyoscine Hydrobromide, which used to be in Feminax. Feminax was an absolute lifesaver for me before I had children, when my periods were very uncomfortable. But it's no longer available in it's original formulation - the current one is just over-priced neurofen and paracetamol.

PrettyCandles - thanks for that. I've just read it out to my dh as he was a bit worried that I went so white and clammy and I wasn't able to explain as clearly as you did. Also, thanks for the the Travel Calm tip, I knew Feminax had lost something important but didn't know what it was nor where I could get it .

Dh is working from home and has just brought me tea and ginger biscuits. Feeling much less shaky now.
