DS2 (6yo) has chest pains

He's got a bit of a cough, but not really what I would call bad, just a little cough now and again, but when he does cough, he's crying because of the pain in his chest (maybe 6/7 times during the day).

He seems otherwise well, perhaps a bit more cuddly than usual, but he's eating Ok and been fairly lively all day. How concerned should I be?

It's possible that he's pulled a muscle in his chest as he's been coughing so each time he coughs it hurts, however, I do tend to take chest pain in children really seriously (don't ask, not my child ), for this reason it's best for him to be checked over. Can you contact NHS direct?

When DD was crying with chest pain when coughing she had pleurisy - do get it checked it really hurts if it is that (it wasn't an awful cough)

Hope he's ok do get him checked though.

more serious chest infections/ pleurisy/ pneumonia don't necessarily cause a great deal of coughing. Does he complain of a tummy ache or any other pain?

Curiousmama · 22/03/2010 10:27

how is he today lisbey?

Thanks for asking curious. He seems well in himself. Complaining that his "saliva tastes funny" and that his back, head and legs hurt, but hasn't mentioned the chest.

I would still get him checked out, those symptoms are still indicative of something going on. Hope he's better soon.

yes better to be safe....

glad he seems ok though.
