I am doing a sexual health poll to see how many people have had one of the following;

Chlamydia

Herpes

Syphyllis

Ghonnorhea

HIV

Hepititis

Of course you can remain anonymous, and your answers will be of tremendous help.

A bit more info as to why you are doing this poll might get you more responses. Is it research or just being nosey?

morningpaper · 20/07/2005 19:19

? This is a strange request. It's not very scientific is it?! There are lots of statistics available about these diseases if you need them.

e.g.
www.hpa.org.uk/hpa/news/articles/press_releases/2005/050630_sti_figures.htm

Search your local NHS site for information about your local area.

WigWamBam · 20/07/2005 19:23

I think I'd want to know what this was all in aid of before I answered any of those questions. What's the poll, who's it for, why are you asking the questions?

Yep I've had em all! Just a joke! HIV and Hepititis C are real serious. Chlamydia is the silent one that can cause infertility if not treated early. Happy to say I have never expeirenced any sexually transmitted disease. Would also add that Hepititis and HIV are not totally just Sexually transmitted.

chicagomum · 20/07/2005 22:43

this seems a rather odd thread to me, not giving the reasons behind it, (i apologise if this is all above board)

lilaclotus · 20/07/2005 22:45

none of them

Roobie · 20/07/2005 22:47

One can't really "have had" HIV can one?

marthamoo · 20/07/2005 22:47

My dh is a microbiologist who did his thesis on chlamydia. His research was carried out via Family Planning Clinics, involved clinical testing and was totally anonymous. What kind of poll is this, exactly? Is it for personal interest only - because, frankly, results gleaned from anonymous posters on a website are not going to be worth a damn, scientifically speaking.

Carla · 20/07/2005 22:48

I've heard of them all, never had any of them, but do no that it's spelt gonorrhoea.

'Nuff said people?

Carla · 20/07/2005 22:48

And do know it's spelt 'know', too!

HappyHuggy · 20/07/2005 22:52

never had any of them

marthamoo · 20/07/2005 22:52

Plus I suggest that if you intend to make a serious study of sexually transmitted diseases - you will be taken more seriously if you spell gonorrhoea and hepatitis correctly.

hunkermunker · 20/07/2005 22:53

I keep samples of each of these in jars. Stamp collecting's boring, but disease collecting? It's the way forward.

And my labels are spelt right

Will apologise for this post tomorrow...

Fran1 · 20/07/2005 23:37

Herpes doesn't have to be a STD either!

I suggest you go elsewhere to do your research.

Flossam · 20/07/2005 23:42

I don't know if she/he is a name changer but they only have posts from today, which makes me rather suss I'm afraid in the suspicious world that MN has become in this day and age!

hunkermunker · 20/07/2005 23:44

CL is also DionneUK and also there was another CiaoLeoCiao someone else poster the other day iirc.

Fran1 · 20/07/2005 23:51

When you search those names, it has asked many a weird question, best to leave them to it!

CiaoLeo · 21/07/2005 08:00

I am actually studying part time in sexual health studies as I would like to become, eventually, a specialist or whatever and as part of my coursework I decided to do this bit of research of my own. I am already using national statistics but must do research of my own. I understand that some of u are naturally cautious of not helping me out, but some of u are downright ignorant.

OP posts:
Fran1 · 21/07/2005 08:04

Ignorant could be the wrong word to use their.

No acknowledgment to your mispellings, lack of information, and noting that not all have to be stds?

Fran1 · 21/07/2005 08:05
  • there - i meant to write!
CiaoLeo · 21/07/2005 08:07

Ok, so sorry i'm a shit speller, sorry to the lack of information and I know they're not all possible STD's
