I had my first one removed - no big deal. It doesn't hurt and I didn't even realise the deed was done until the doctor said I could get my trousers on again

What displayuntilbestbefore said

I felt a bit squeamish about having mine out but it didn't hurt at all and was over in seconds. So it will be OK.

bargainhuntingbetty · 19/03/2010 12:13

Good I am hoping it will be like that. I am ready for a fight to get it out tho as I know they dont like removing them.

They won't try to dissuade you and it's nothing to be concerned about.

Molesworth · 19/03/2010 12:15

My GP didn't question me at all about having it removed: I just asked him to remove it and he did it there and then.

expatinscotland · 19/03/2010 12:18

they tried to dissuade me. I struggled on for 10 months and then told them that was it.

diedandgonetodevon · 19/03/2010 12:33

There is no reason for the to refuse to remove it- just tell them you have made your decision and ask them to take it out.

It's not uncomfortable- you cough, the nurse pulls the strings and it slides out.

Molesworth · 19/03/2010 21:57

Hope you got on OK at the doc's, BHB

bargainhuntingbetty · 21/03/2010 09:44

I went to see about having it removed and they said that I could have it removed as I have given it a good go but because of the symptoms I am having they want to contact the gynie that I am under and see if there is anything else that can be done instead of/in addition to having the coil in to see if the symptoms can be sorted out. So I have to wait on the gp calling me with the advice she was given and then I can maybe have it out depening on what was said. I just want to have it out and to feel normal again.

I can identify, I couldn't wait to get mine out (it was a Mirena not a copper coil). I hope you can get this sorted soon BHB, and I guess the GP is doing the right thing to investigate your symptoms thoroughly. Mine couldn't have cared less! (Was grateful that he didn't argue about it though, and my symptoms started to clear up once it was out.)

bargainhuntingbetty · 22/03/2010 11:29

I am afraid that if I get it taken out that I will still have all the symptoms and have no contraception either. Will just have to wait and see.
