Also had periods with about 3 weeks inbetween but more recently have had a good 5 weeks in between.

ANy ideas what might cause this?

I used to have way longer gaps than that - in my case PCOS. There's probably loads of other causes.

choclab · 16/03/2010 18:16

stress ?

shushpenfold · 16/03/2010 18:17

Perimenopause - in my case I think it's making them closer together but it can generally cause periods to be irregular and can start many years before the actual onset of menopause.

I'm 35 btw.

if you promise never to call it Auntie Flow again I might tell you

rainbowinthesky · 16/03/2010 18:50

If it helps it's the first time I've ever called it that!

Mine tend to be 35 days apart but that is due to pcos. Saying that, my last cycle started 23 Jan so i am ridiculously late. If you're concerned, see your gp. And if you get any answers let us know.

cyb · 16/03/2010 18:51

thank goodness for that

FWIW I agree with shush, mine are 3 weeks apart now (which is great fun)

Batteryhuman · 16/03/2010 18:52

Auntie Flo? Noooooooooo.

rainbowinthesky · 16/03/2010 18:53

I've been wearing a sanitary towel every day now for the last week in anticipation.

Look, I know it was wrong. It was a moment of madness. In my defence I have taught my children to use the correct anatomical terms rather than "front bottom" and the like.

a panty liner, surely?

Are you that heavy the day you start? Mines like start, stop, start stop, then just when i think I've stopped for 2 days I leak every where

If I could get the whole lot whipped out I would

rainbowinthesky · 16/03/2010 18:56

Yes, I need a sanitary towel unless I catch it very quickly. I've had a lifetime of heavy periods and close together. I even bought a pregnancy kit and tested last time as I couldnt understand the gap.
THis time there's no chance I'm pregnant.
