I know it's not the worse affliction but, still, I've had enough. I'm going on holiday in 3 weeks and there's no way I can swim/ wear a bikini when my backside is so disgusting.

It's been happening on and off since I was little. I've been prescribed Hibiscrub antiseptic wash for it but that does nothing but give me thrush. My GP said long term antibiotics might help but have been pregnant then bfing then pregnant again for the last 2 1/2 years so not a possibility right now.

Has anyone had this and managed to resolve it? Is there anything I can do? Antiseptic washes and creams don't help and it's worse since I became pregnant.

DH isn't allowed to look at or touch my backside when it's like this, I can't take DS swimming and all in all am fed up of it.

Can anyone help?

Is it pimples or acne or something else?
I have keratosis so my skin looks red and pimply all the time. I recently discovered that those silky mit hair removal gloves are fab at exfoliating and I find that my skin looks a lot better after sandpapering it.
Have you tried using a salt/body/sugar scrub or facial wash? Apart from that I am not much use.
How about wearing a sarong or boardshorts when swimming?

Eucerin cream is great for keratosis. I also love the body shop peppermint foot scrub, it's quite gentle and smells good.

Sea salt and glove. Scrub in the shower every day. Moisturise.

Thanks everyone.

It's not keratosis, some of them are like big, painful boils and some are smaller spots with heads. Eurgh.

I'll try the scrub ideas, facial wash doesn't seem to do anything.

Oohh that sounds painful! I would try the regular exfoliation and maybe antibacterial soap.
Could it be a staph infection causing them? What about putting bactroban (or similiar) on them?

alypaly · 15/03/2010 09:28

order some octenisan from chemist and try that,it kills off diffent bacteria but dont use on you fanjo as it wil do the same as hibiscrub and get rid of the good bacteria.

hersuit · 15/03/2010 11:21

Ok cool, haven't tried exfoliation yet.

Maybe I need to attack it from all angles then, exfoliate, antiseptic wash and cream. It's hard to spend time doing this stuff when you have a 10 minute window to shower but I want to swim on holiday!

I suffer from this from time to time and my top tips for getting a smooth bum are

Dont touch bum ever!
Apply sudocrem thickly each night for as long as it takes-worked a treat for me as I am now spot free!

Elsa123 · 15/03/2010 13:58

How about using tea tree oil and wearing a skirt/dress with thong and and hold ups instead of tights to allow lots of air to get to it? Alongside all the exfoliation etc. Perhaps as its chronic, you could demand to be referred to a dermatologist?
