have got a big one on one eye (claw of a rotti), happened Sunday night/Monday morning - just wondering when it will stop feeling as though there is a lump of molten lava stuck on my eyeball?

My DS had one Miffy and it took about a week to stop being really sore. I think it can vary though - depending on how bad a scratch it is. Have the hospital given you something for it?

MiffyWhinge · 09/03/2010 21:37

gooey topical antibiotic stuff every 4x a day for 4 days

a week! argh - it is a big fat long one, eye is still swollen shut which is helpful in some ways as light hurts a lot

other eye only half open so am miserable about impossibility of normal life at moment, did need a rest though so perhaps is an ill wind

I agree about a week. BUT be really careful as I thought mine was fixed and then foolishly put contacts in and gave myself another 5 days of grief.

weegiemum · 09/03/2010 21:43

about a week or so, the last one I had was about 9 days till I was happy with contacts in.

I think they heal better kept out of the light.

MiffyWhinge · 09/03/2010 21:47

way too phobic for contacts

a week though, yikes

was v hard to get the anaesthetic and dye in, will feel shame about behaviour in A&E for rest of life

Don't be loads of people (me included) are squeamish when it comes to eye stuff.

MiffyWhinge · 09/03/2010 21:56

thank you

am so bored and can't even do this for more than a few mins without moaning and groaning at the brightness

can't really read properly or watch tv, it is rubbish, would have preferred some painless injury that could make most of time off with

KurriKurri · 09/03/2010 22:02

Have you got some painkillers so you can get some sleep tonight?

barrym · 10/03/2010 01:10

Mine really really hurt so you are not being overdramatic. I found it was better to give up entirely as moving other eyeball around made hurt one worse. I had to give ds away for 2 days while blind

MiffyWhinge · 10/03/2010 18:30

am just sleeping all the time, waking up to eat and going back to sleep had no idea I was so tired

it is already much more comfortable, and can open it for a while (hurrah!) doesn't like the light though and won't focus - just feels like has a few grains of sand in it, so more irritating than painful

what a mad thing to happen though

MiffyWhinge · 13/03/2010 14:11

STILL not back to normal

grrrr

Sorry to hear that Miffy, it sounds like you got a pretty nasty scratch. Might be worth going back to the hospital if it doesn't improve over the weekend.

MiffyWhinge · 14/03/2010 13:16

thanks think it finally is improving, am so glad it didn't perforate (how to give yourself nightmares!) AND that have overcome my extreme squeamishness and can put drops in myself, always a silver lining!
