HELP! Caught baby sucking lid of metanium tube!

minkeymonkeymoo · 03/03/2010 16:04

He is 14 months, and I just turned my back to sort the nappy and obviously I hadn't put the lid on properly. Most of it is now wiped over my top and I put a towel in his mouth to get the rest.

Please can someone reassure me that he will be OK - or should I call someone - doctor / NHS direct / A&E???

Thanks :-)

Is there a number on the packet to call?

minkeymonkeymoo · 03/03/2010 16:06

I dont have the box only the tube. Will go and have a look. Thanks (feel SO stupid and such a bad mother!)....

Don't worry. My daughter has chewed about half a tube down before now. It will be fine.

Nice yellow lips and tongue though, eh?

DD (also 14 months) is obsessed with the metanium tube. She's ended up with small amounts in her mouth a few times and been fine. I would call NHS direct if he's eaten a lot though.

Hi

Thanks. I would be surprised if he got anything to be honest - especially as I wiped his mouth out with a towel!

I got the feeling that he should be OK - I was reading people use it on the face! - but there's nothing like something like that to make you feel a bad mummy!!!

Oh well, I'm really rubbish then. Seriously, it only gets worse, you'd better make sure your guilt muscles get flabbier fast or you'll never make it

Thanks BoF. I know what you mean ... So far I have felt guilty when he fell and hit his head (numerous times), fell off the bed (I was in tears on and off all morning with that one!)and I am sure that there are others.

I know this won't be the last but just need to know when I really need to do something (i.e. A&E). I usually assume (hope!) that everything will be OK.

See, Mumsnet is great. I had no idea who to call
