Swine flu vaccine for pregnant women

Sorry if this has been gone over lots before - I can't find a thread but I'm sure there will have been one - but I've got to decide in the next couple of days whether to have the swine flu vaccine. Was sent the letter yesterday offering to book an appt. for Saturday, so not much time to ponder. My ds had his jab, but I'm very nervous about doing anything risky in this pregnancy as I'm only 10 1/2 weeks and haven't had a lot of luck in the last year with pregnancies.

Is the general consensus that you should or should not have the jab in pregnancy? Advice/experience/theories/hunches would be much appreciated!

Oh, and apparently 'Pandemrix' is the type of vaccine being offered at the surgery at the moment, if that makes a difference.

hey, i think its just a matter of personal choice - not an easy descion to make i know!

I trailed through endless amounts of information-the fact is we do not know 100% if it is safe or not...... its a chance you take..... a horrible decsion to make.

i decided to take the jag @ 34 weeks pregnant after much consideration, I came to the decison after a young mum of 21 who lived in my area died of swine flu 1 week after giving birth.

I also took into account that my baby would have been fully developed by the time I recieved it.

I had my baby 3 weeks ago and so far touch wood seems healthy & happy.

If you feel paraniod maybe wait until you have past the 12 week stage?

Just trust your insticts, coz they r never wrong .x

Ooosa tbh I think you're prob v unlikely to catch it at this stage as flu season is nearly over and there are hardly any cases around. (you can check the figures on the hpa site if you don't believe me ). If you want to think about it again the the autumn time you'll be further along in your pregnancy as well. Also, if the virus mutates for next year there will probably be a different vaccine anyway so you'd be getting this one for no reason. Iirc it's women in later pregnancy that are more at risk from the flu anyway because the baby is taking up so much room and many women get short of breath at that stage anyway.

Yep, personal choice. I went for it.

I had it (the jab) at about 10 weeks. I had hyperemesis and would probably have died if I had caught it according to medics. Dh and ds had suspected sf the week after I had the jab so I was very glad indeed.
