Forgot to mention some symptoms to the GP yesterday so I googled and....

Saw the GP yesterday because I am having frequent periods and feeling very tired and unwell.

As usual I forgot to mention half the things I meant to say - I am having leg pains and headaches.

Just googled this in connection with anaemia which the GP suspects and they are symptoms of SEVERE anaemia.

Having a very bad morning - lightheaded and weak.
My blood tests are due back in a couple of days. Should I just wait or let the GP know?

If your symptoms have worsened, contact the GP. Otherwise, wait for the results and call the surgery in a day or two if you haven't heard anything. If your GP suspected anemia, they will have ordered all indicative tests relating to it anyway, with luck.

If you have had bloods done anyway it will no doubt show up. Oh and I'm going to give you a stern look for googling symptoms - that never ends well!

Hope you feel better soon.

does your GP offer telephone appointments? Ours does - might be worth ringing and explaining to the receptionist and ask if the GP could call you/their advice as to what you should do?

Thanks everyone.

Symptoms haven't worsened. I was just worried that by omitting to mention the leg pain and headaches I might not have given an accurate description but as ecomouse and aSilverlining have said I have had the blood tests done anyway so I will know in a few days.

at aSiliverlinings stern look. I promise I only googled anaemia and leg pain as I was driving DH mad going on about my sore legs.

If the GP suspects anaemia and if your other symptoms seem to support that suspicion then you could - rather than just waiting for instructions - get the ball rolling by increasing your iron intake from natural sources. The GP will probably prescribe iron tablets if you are clinically anaemic but, even if turns out not to be anaemia, there's nothing to stop you from bumping up the iron content of your diet anyway. Red meats, dark green vegetables, fortified breakfast cereals, wholegrain foods, pulses like beans and lentils. TIP.... get into the habit of eating three kiwifruit a day as the high vitamin C content will help your body absorb the iron both from your diet and any pills that are prescribed.
