Tired at strange times

I am not sure if this is something to be concerned about but I find I am waking up feeling perfectly normal and perky after a good night's sleep. But about an hour later I start to feel really tired which seems to last throughout the morning - even after I've had breakfast and coffee. Is this weird? Or just normal?

It's happening on weekends as well as during the week when I have to go to work.

Unexplained fatigue - especially if you're getting a good night's sleep - can be due to nutritional deficiencies. If your iron stores are low (pretty common in young women) that can make you feel tired at odd times. Increasing your intake of iron-rich foods e.g. red meats, dark green vegetables, fortified breakfast cereals, pulses etc. together with Vitamin C-rich foods such as kiwifruit to help you absorb the iron could be worth a try. TIP... don't drink coffee for a while. It hinders iron absorption and also the artificial 'high' of caffeine can end up as a 'low' a little later.

Also... what do you have for breakfast? A breakfast that is very rich in carbohydrates (starches/sugars), for example, can lead to spikes in blood-sugar levels and this can result in a 'slump' feeling mid-morning. A higher-protein breakfast might help if that was the case.

Finally, there's general ill health.... all kinds of medical conditions can result in symptoms of fatigue. If the problem persists then you should consider seeing your doctor. Good luck

I can't eat when i first get up or I really 'slump'. I have coffee and then put a bowl of porridge in the microwave as I head out of the door with the DCs, and eat it when I get back. I'm hypoglycemic so it has to be porridge - love Frosties but they are a disaster!
