I tried posting here & apart from winnybella I was talking to myself

I am so worried about her sight, she can't see any colour and her vision is blurred & fragmented

Can you get migraines without any pain?

Oh Katy, you are being run through the mill at the moment, aren't you?

Agree with others, take her to the hospital and get assertive with them. It's probably a good thing your mum is going as then you can both back each other in case they try and send you home again.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Katymac · 01/03/2010 21:29

D'you think? Hmm I might agree

I thought I was getting paranoid maybe they really are all out to get me

Shit. Rumbled.

Just to say that something similar happened to my DD. She woke me up one Sunday morning and said"Mummy I can't play with my toys cos everything is double".

I looked at her and my heart froze. She had gone cross eyed during the night!

Called emergency doc, they told me to take her to casualty Eye Dep. asap.

All sorts of tests were done, nothing bad was found. After she had had a nap, she woke up and her eyes had gone back to normal, more or less.

They said it was probably stress. She had to go back for checks every six months but is now declared healthy.

God, it was scary. Keeping fingers crossed for you.

lurkinginthebushes that was just what I wanted to hear.....Thanks

Fingers crossed DD does the same

It is scary, very scary

Eye stuff:
Peripheral vision, eye tests, different eye tests, colour blindness tests (which she completely confused them on - she could 'see' the numbers, but all in shades of grey), photos of her eye & the back of her eye, different eye tests, 3D tests

I will remember to mention it trefusis but she has been off it a while

I'm trying to make contingency plans for her atm over here

The other thing it could be, Katy, if the docs can't find anything wrong, is a stress related problem generally known as hysterical or inorganic visual loss which is not fully understood but does resolve itself, sometimes with placebos, sometimes on its own. I think the theory is that the child thinks she can't see. I have sometimes seen it in children when there is a new baby in the house or if a sibling is very ill. None of the children I saw who were diagnosed with this turned out to have ongoing problems. It is very worrying when it happens but does turn out fine.

You poor thing and poor dd, I will be thinking of you.

Katymac · 02/03/2010 07:38

I guess Chipmonkey that does concern me

DD has had so much in the last couple of years - but in contrast she seems very upbeat & enjoying the talking book I got her.

She is off to school today to do food tech & has assembled all her ingredients for fruit salad; so she isn't sitting letting this happen to her

Is there an update? How is her sight now?

Katymac · 03/03/2010 11:45

Her sight is the same or slightly worse, the hospital said that some girls her age get this & it will go but we don't know when (hours, days, weeks??)

She went off to school today (managed fine yesterday)

Fingers crossed - but she is making adaptations in her life to help herself over here
