DVT or just panic??

I have woken up with an uncomfortable stinging/burning sensation in my upper right calf (just below the back of the knee) which is worse if it is touched or rubbed. I wouldn't describe it as an achey kind of pain though. Could this be a sign of DVT? If not, what could it be? I'm 26 weeks pregnant. My sister was diagnosed with a DVT soon after giving birth so i'm possibly over-aware and over-concerned but obviously I don't want to ignore something that could be serious!

is your calf hot? swollen at all?

can you stand on your tip toes?

as you are pg and have family history of dvt i would get it checked out ASAP

could be a muscle strain but i would call your GP or NHS Direct

It's not red or swollen, possibly slightly warmer than the other leg. No problem to stand on tip-toes.

Yeah, i would def get it checked out - its prob nothing, but give you are PG and your sis had a DVT, I think you would be wise to check. If you phone your GP and tell them your symptoms you should get an appt asap. If no joy, i would contact midwife.

I would def get this checked out i was diagnosed with a DVT at the same time in pregnancy. I dont want to scare you but i ended upo with a compleate blockage in my groin and nearly lost my leg. It is easily controlled with heparin injections daily at home. My dp was shown how to do them as i was a wimp and couldnt inject myself .

When i had dd i then got put on warfarin for 6months. When i found out i was pregnant with ds i was imediatly put on heparin as a precaution and carried on with it till 6 weeks after birth as warfarin didnt agree with me.

Go and see your gp asap its nothing to worry about and as ive explained easily treatable. please dont leave it though as that is when it can become dangerous.

Hope all goes well with you.
